Tips for making a topic in 'Questions & Help'

Hi!
In this topic I'll give you some advice which could help you to get a straightforward and fast answer to your question.

1. Use 'Search' on forum.
Most likely the problem you have encountered has already been reviewed by someone. You should check Guide section, as you might find an answer there.

2. Formulate the question clearly and explicitly.
Topic name should reflect the problem. You shall not create topics with such names as: "Help!", "Error", "Need Help!", and so on... Do not abuse spelling and punctuation marks.

For example I'll give some decent topic names: "Error while connecting GameServer.exe to MSSQL-server.", "NPC Script does not work", "How to create a new item?".

3. Articulate the problem clearly.
Articulate the problem so that it would be understandable to other forum members. Try to describe the problem in all details. Remember that the clearly articulated question already contains 50% of the answer.

Do not abuse the spelling and punctuation marks. Least said, soonest mended, right?

As an attachment upload screenshot of the problem; .cfg files' configurations, scripts and other files you're working with - this part is very important.

4. Be patient.
After you've created a topic, be patient while waiting for the answer. You should not 'bump' too frequently and demand immediate response.

While waiting you can also keep trying to fix the issue on your own and/or give additional explanations and materials that could help forum members to give you an answer as fast as possible.

Taking into account the experience gained over several years of work of our forum, I would like to add to the list of recommendations.

5. If you are attaching an executable .exe file of a client or server, make sure that another user can run it on his computer.

In the course of solving your problem, another forum member may ask you to send them client and server executable files, for example, Game.exe or GameServer.exe. Make sure in advance that the person on the other end can run it on his computer. It is a very common practice to change the startup parameter of Game.exe from "startgame" to something else. Or server port or version. Also, a non-standard DLL-library can be attached to the executable file, accordingly, the .exe file will not start without this library. So, before you send the executable file to another person, inform them of all the changes and attach the DLLs, without which the .exe file will not start. It will not be superfluous to check the executable file for viruses.

6. Do not write to another user in private messages (PM, Skype, Discord, etc.) with a request to solve your problem or with questions.

There is our forum and the corresponding section "Questions & Help". Remember that another member of the community has his own things to do and activities outside the forum, and they are not obliged to help you with your problems. Perhaps they will answer you in your topic on the forum if he knows the solution to the problem and he has a desire to share it. Respect other people's time. In addition, by solving issues on the forum, you replenish the collective experience of the community, since in the future your topic can be read by users who will face the same problem, and they will already have a ready-made solution.

7. Use the "Thank you" button to express gratitude to other forum participants.

Our forum has a user reputation system, which allows us to visualize the contribution of forum members to our community in the form of a certain number of points under their avatars - a rating. The rating increases when you receive thanks from other participants using the "Thank you" button under the corresponding posts. Thus, the rating allows you to evaluate the participants in terms of their experience, knowledge and contribution to the community, in addition, it motivates them to create new materials and provide help. The members reputation is also required to transfer them to other user groups.
